In celebration of our Arizona Centennial, a lecture by Gail Van Horsen entitled "100 Years of Arizona Quilting" will be presented at 1:00 PM on Friday. We will also have a separate area at the show featuring the "100 Years of Quilting" Quilt Display.

Community Quilts (our community service activity) will display their recent Challenge Quilts. These quilts will be distributed to those in need after the show.

A lite lunch will be available for purchase on site.

Our own "Oak Leaves" Opportunity Quilt (tickets are still available - you may view it on this same web page) will be awarded at the close of the show.

We hope to see you there!

"Oak Leaves," Mountain Top Quilters' 2012 opportunity quilt, measures 89" x 89" square and is composed of five appliqued leaf blocks and four pieced blocks set diagonally. These blocks are surrounded with a pieced leaf ribbon-like border. The outer border is scalloped and pieced from fabrics used in the quilt.

The original opportunity quilt committee consisted of Sharon Watt, Joan Carrell, Linda Coppola, Kay Harlan, Kitty Lynch, and Linda Marley. Additional helpers were Jeanne Vick, Jane Hofbauer and Marie Love.

Applique blocks were sewn by Sally Becker, Joyce Cummings,Sharon Heilman, Mary Andra Holmes and Barbara Merkel. Annette Ladehoff made the label, and Carolyn Doyle did the quilt binding.

Longarm machine quilting was by Lynn Beck of Grammy’s Quilting.

Adapted from the design by Nancy Rink that appeared in the January 2009 issue of The Quilter Magazine, the "Oak Leaves" pattern is used with her permission.

Carol Cooley and Charlene Coxworth are quilt marketing co-chairs.
